Take a look (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-144-145&depa=1)

I don't know what it is but since my 1GB kit of Patriot TCCD has gone bad running at stock and EQ2 is a memory hog I'm looking for more ram. Problem is, most 1GB sticks have horrible timings. Usually 2T and something like 3-4-48 if you are lucky for pc3200 speeds. This stuff has specs for PC3200 and 2.5-3-3... so I'm wondering how good it really is. But for that much cash it better be good I think. Anyone have any opinions on what chips they might have used for this?

ECC memory Kingston Linky (http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KRX3200AK2_2G.pdf) so I don't think you can use it for your mobo. You've already figured out that 1gig sticks list very loose timings, but I'll bet there are some non-ecc DDR sticks that can do a little better. Unfortunatley there aren't a lot of people around here that have a lot of experience with 1gig sticks. Please share your results when you get them.

I would not recomend ECC unless your board/chip needs it. Try OCZ, they have a few decent 2GB kits.

Wow, $700+ for memory. You must have a lot of money to spend this christmas. :santa2:

Take a look at G.Skill, they are some of the best TCCD memory modules out there.

No.. I'm building an dual opteron sys for a server... so that's why I was looking around for big memory with good timings. If I buy these it's going to be 4 kits. So about $2,100+ in the memory. That will give me 4GB of memory per cpu. Did I mention this was going to be an expensive machine for a client?

Well.. if he decides to go through with it it definately will be. Dual 250 sledges, 8GB of mem total, and 4 Seagate 10K SCSI 300GB drives in raid 0+1. He's forking over 15K for it so who am I to complain? Plus I get to keep anything left over which should be over 1K for me for this job. This is going to be one serious machine and I don't have a clue what he'll use it for.. neither do I care for the kind of money he's putting down :)

I'm confused. But okay. Have you decided on a mother board?
