Ok...sorry if this is a repeat post, as i am sure it has been asked a thousand times. But am very new to overclocking, and have a basic question.

I ran the 3dMark2001 and got a score of 10770. I am running the ATI X800Pro AGP 256Mb with the latest Omega Drivers.

Specs are : Windows XP Home
AMD XP 2200 ( Older Socket A Motherboard )
1 Gig of pc3200 DDR Ram
Soundblaster Audigy

I have the card set at 472.50 core speed, and 445.50 for the memory which is what the card came set at i guess as i have never adjusted it. My main two questions are this...

1) How is that 3dmark score for those settings on the card ?

2) What would be a safe overclock speed to try with what i have to work with.

Keep in mind i am new to this, and your forum came highly reccomended, so thats why i came here to ask.....I realize i am probably linited with my older AMD cpu, and MB.

looks good, if you overclock to 520/560(xtpe specs), you will probably be around 12000-12500.

that is very low for a 3dmark01 score. You should be able to do that on 3dmark03. make sure all your sliders are all the way to the left on "performance."

Agreed.

Though a 2200XP is pretty lowly these days. Id say around 15,000 would be normal.

You said you have a "Older Socket A Motherboard". What board is it? Is it running your ram at PC3200 speeds or slower?

Ok i did what you guys suggested, and got a new score on 3dMark2001 of 11800. I bumped it up to around 515/550. and to awnser OC's question, my motherboard is Elitegroup ECS MB, Model #VT8367-8233
It only runs at a max of 4X, so i know i am limited here in what i can get out of it. Thats my next project is to upgrade the MB, and the CPU. I am trying to learn to do this stuff on my own. Its been a trying experience ! LOL. Any help you guys offer is GREATLY appreciated.....

your card should have come with smart doctor, software to check and monitor all your gpu, voltage, temps, all that fun stuff, this is one way, on the other hand you can touch the heatsink,if it burns you and leves a blister, then it`s running to hot,get a ati silencer 4,will cool it down nice for ocing,i here these cards run hot.

I am a big fan of riva tuner now: http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/

lots of nice features.

did you make sure to go into the direct3d and opengl settings, slide the sliders all the way to the left and then hit apply?
