finish building computer, but no sound

I built new computer with an asus p4c800 deluxe mobo, installed sound card, but have I no sound when i plug in the headphone jacks. please advise.

lol, i had the same problem.

i had the mute button on.
on the task bar thing next to the clock make sure the sound aint muted.
