Hi. I am running Redhat version 7.1 at school, trying to get a CS server up and running. Unfortunately i cannot get into the GUI, because i get an error message that says something like "X spawning too fast waiting 5 minutes." So I wait five minutes, and it comes up again. I left it running for like an hour and a half, and it had a bunch of those messages all the same running down the screen. What can I do to fix this? Do I have to reinstall Linux.

Also, when the GUI did work for a time, I had access to Netscape. But for some reason, I would click the icon to get the browser to start, but it would at times take 15 seconds before the computer would give any activity and bring up the browser window. At other times, I would click and click and click on the icon, and it would do nothing at all. Is this normal?

Computer specs:
IBM E2N
128meg ram
k6 266mhz
dvd rom drive
6 gig HDD
integrated rage turbo video

Thanks a bunch guys.

Ok, I edit my poist. I didnt notice the comp specs. It's not tough enough to run CS, thats for sure. I have no idea why netscape starts up so slow.

if in doubt .. reinstall it.

Netscape takes a time to repond on my PC too. 4.74. is slow and ugly, but 6.1 is well better.

Check out mozilla at http://www.mozilla.org. Get 0.9.4 or whatever is the latest, it is awesome, way better than netscape 4.7x and 6.x, IMHO.
