Hey all I was just wondering...
Is it possible to share our cable connection between two different computers with only ONE lan card in each? Or would I have to buy a second one...? My brother recently acquired an 8 port hub (which we are gonna use for huge lan games of Counterstrike or Tribes 2 or something :)) and this thought popped into my mind. I had always heard you need two lan cards in one computer to do it (and one lan card in the other computer, of course) but I was wondering if it was possible with one lan card in each. Thanks. :D

Nope, you need two in one...or a router.

Get a router. They're cheap, small, and easy to set up. I have a DI-804 and it has an integrated 4 port switch along with a firewall. I got mine at amazon for $80 a month or so ago.

if your cable company gives you more then one ip address then you would only need one NIC in each computer and a hub or switch.
