Got $25 to spend on a game

So I got a giftcard for $25 at best buy and I'll probably get a game, now I have been looking for a nice fps, I even got full spectrum warrior a couple of days back but it isn't a fps, so now I went to best buy and couldn't make up my mind. Now I know that most people here like FarCry and that was one of my choice but the thing is I don't know what the game is about and if anyone could tell me how the game is, one important thing with fps for me is that I don't like shooting mosters and stuff of the sort, so is FarCry anything like that? My other options were Call of Duty(played and like it but I was wondering if it's worth getting it just for the online gameplay), Metal of Honor, Shadow ops and Jont ops, I know what all of these are about but FarCry, I just downloaded the demo and will try it out tomorow.

by the way I'm not limited to the $25.

I still play Call of Duty multiplayer, but everyone I know updated to the expansion pack, United Offensive, for tanks and jeeps in multiplayer. Seriously sweet.

Medal of Honor is cool, but the graphics are a little more bland than CoD's. I would recommend No One Lives Forever 2 if you can find a copy. :thup:

half life 2 if you havent already gotten it. chronicals is not a bad game. the movie sucked, but the game is ok. also look into sims2, rome total war, CoD

call of duty is great but short. HL2 and doom 3 are pretty not for u cause the monsters but u could buy it for counterstrike source and for day of defeat when that comes out. o man i just though of it check out vietcong very good game.

fyi i still think day of defeat mod for original half-life is still the best multi fps

I thought Pitch Black sucked. I heard CoR wasn't bad though. For $25, I'd buy one of the Sega/ESPN titles.

Half life 2 I was also unsure of, my friend told me what the first one was about and it doesn't seem to be my kind of game but I was very interested on Counter Strike, but I wasn't sure if I had to buy Half Life 2 to get it. I'll search around the titles you guys have suggested and see what they are about, gotta check best buy too cause the only reason I'm getting a game is because I want to spend the gift card. Just a reminder I'm willing to spend more.

Farcry has elements of military tactical shooters, and old school monster shoot em ups. But for the most part you will be fighting mercenaries. I really enjoy this game because for an FPS, it is really open ended. Their are multiple ways you can go about ambushing merc camps. The multiplayer IMO is really great too. The game has vehicles, boats, jeeps, hang-gliders, And choppers, although you can't pilot the choppers. I would really suggest getting it.

I like to be able to drive/pilot stuff, it is the only reason why I still play BF1942.

Far Cry is an awesome game. Graphics are wonderful and the game is not linear... well a few of the levels are somewhat linear, but most of the time you can wander anywhere you want. There are some monsters to kill especially in the last few levels, but most of the time you are fighting mercs. Far Cry also has patrol boats and 4 wheel drive buggies to zoom around in.

I also really like Call of Duty (and expansion pack) and Medal of Honor Allied Assault (which is available in a nice bargain priced packaged set with two expansion packs). These are both great WWII FPS games. The Call of Duty probably has slightly better graphics, but I still enjoy the MoHAA series (especially the D-Day beach landing which is straight out of the Saving Private Ryan movie).

Far Cry is selling for <$30 now and it is worth every penny.
Like was said, it is mostly Human soldiers. All of the add on SP level mods are Human only, and Multi player is Human only. There are mutant creatures in the later levels and some have lamented this but the enemy AI and non-linear gameplay make it one of the best FPS ever.

If you do not like monsters then HL2 may not be the right game.

I like COD plus the expansion. Far Cry is great too...but my all time favorite is Medal of Honor: War chest, which can be had for 19 bucks at wally world.

Another vote for Half-Life 2. You can drive two vehicles, the action is pretty intense especially the later City 17 levels. The game comes with two different multiplayer games. Half-Life 2 Deathmatch (killing someone with the gravity gun always makes me smile) and Counter-Strike: Source (a graphically updated Counter-Strike).

Counter-Strike Source alone is worth $40.

Get Call of Duty if you want some great multiplayer play after you're done with the fun single player, get Far Cry if you want a great single player game with sub par multiplayer.

I think you should get Battlefield Vietnam, it is similar to BF1942 but with better graphics, helicopters, significant gameplay improvements (like the 3d map), vehicles have radios, oh, and did I mention helicopters :) (and they handle much better than the ones in DC).

But, Far Cry is an awesome game, even if it does have monsters in it.

Oh, and am I the only person in the world who thinks Counter Strike: Source sucks? I never played the first counter strike, but with all the hype I heard about it over the years I was expecting something amazing out if CS:S, and was completely disapointed. ( please, no flames :D )

Today I played MOH demo and didn't like it very much, also tried Farcry and it seems good and a bit hard but I guess I'll learn how to play it. The only reason why I don't have FarCry yet is cause I heard there were like mutated humans and stuff like that and I don't like to play games like that, like resident evil and doom. I couldn't find demos for the other games so I don't want to get them when I have a game that is good enough.

The demo for Half Life 2 just came out. I want to get Half Life 2 sooooo bad! I played the orginal and loved it and my room mate has HL2 and it is so AWSOME. Mulitplayer rocks too. Killing someone with a radiator is just coool....
