So what do you guys plan to get on boxing day? Let's hear them. (For those of you who don't know what boxing day is, it's just like black friday for Canada, UK and some commonwealth countries, and it happens on the day after X-mas.)

Speakers, HL2, CF Card, USB memory key, backup hard drive, wireless router, maybe a LCD Monitor, maybe a DVD rewriter, and maybe a digital camera.

However, I only expect to be successful on half of these. I'm too lazy to go out @ midnight and wait in line, and some people go absolutely insane during these types of shopping days, even though I found that the deals aren't really that great.

The forums at www.redflagdeals.com has all the flyers listed already, so you can go there for a look.

I got the flyers in my mail already :p It seems the stores released them early this year.

We dare not name such a day, for t'would be inviting the mentioning of it's name!

Know of any companies that're doing Boxing Day sales online, like EBgames did for black friday?

Future Shop is supposedly having some Online Only Specials, but judging from last year, I doubt there will be anything good. www.ncix.com is also having a Online sale, and the list will be available tomorrow.

That BEnq Fp937 at bestbuy looks like a good deal. I might pick one up to test it out against my CRT. What I really want is for someone to make a 8ms 23" lcd panel

Thanks for the link. I was starting to have my doubts about youse guys. "Boxing Day," where I grew up, Guyana, S.A., an ex-Brit colony, we were taught it was the day to 'box' up your old stuff and give it to those less fortunate, not head out to BUY more stuff for yourself. We ve drifted so far from the original spirit of Christmas it's become pathetic.
Maybe it's a day you could think about others less fortunate for a change and see what you can contribute to your community. That stuff will still be on the shelves later. :-/

I'm looking for a good deal on a Dual layer DVD burner, anyone seen one? Wondering whether to just get a 160Gb hdd instead and throw everything on that until they get cheap :D

Not really that impressed with the Futureshop and BestBuy flyers tbh.

There is a LG 16x DL DVD-RW @ Future Shop for $69.99, and it's not going to get much better than that. Overall, there's not much worth buying; I'll probably just go out and get some clothes tomorrow and that's about it. Even NCIX doesn't have any major price drops with the prices being similar to their usual sales.

Yeah, most of that was MIR though and I had to chase a future shop MIR for weeks last year, so I dunno about that, since it's $119 if I don't get the MIR and I can pick one up for $100 any day of the week. So it's like taking a risk to save only $30.

I guess I was spoiled last year, getting a 52x CDWriter for $25 after rebates, and a 80Gb /8Mb HDD for $60, which would STILL be good prices (Canadian money)

Yep, I saw the ad @ 9pm PST on the 24th. ;)
I might grab a hard drive as a backup, but other than that, there's not much I need.

We're a brand new store (less than 2 months old), so we were passing out the Boxing Day flyers in the middle of this week to everyone to drum up interest for the big event. I just called my boss 10 minutes ago @ the store and he says there's at least 50 people lined up outside already!

Our store alone is supposed to move in excess of $1,000,000 worth of inventory tomorrow. That's 500%-1000% more than what we move on any given day of the year. Seeing as we share the same parking lot as the 2nd busiest Wal-Mart in Canada (AFAIK, the busiest is in the West Edmonton Mall), we'll hit it no problemo.

Crazy I tell ya!

Now that's definitely crazy, I never could imagine myself lining up outside a store this early. :)

While we are on the subject of boxing day stuff. I was thinking og buying the WD 250 GB HDD from Bestbuy for $129.99 [Still after all rebates its like $40 bucks cheaper than other places]. (Futureshop and bestbuy got it for the same price).

However under the description info, it says ONLY 1 year warranty. Whats the deal with that? There is no way I'm gonna guy a HDD with only 1 year warranty.

Edit: I already bought the Benq CDRW burner for $4.99. [Which really after MIR and taxes is really $12.49 CAD. Also the Kingston 1GB Flash Drive for $79.99 = $96.49 after MIR and taxes.

I ended up with.......a pair of pants. There was nothing good enough for me to justify a purchase, and I didn't want to wait 45 mins in line just to save $15-20 on a hard drive. However I found out that EB is selling HL2 for $39.99 after I got back from the mall, and my sister is going again today, so I told her to get it for me.
Also, I might go back and check for the HD later in the week, I have to help at my dad's office anyhow, and there's a Future Shop closeby.

Note: With the HL2 deal, the price will still be labeled as $59.99 and the $20 will be taken off at the register. It's how I didn't know in the first place.
