Testing for stability at the moment and it has been running hotcpu for 6hours and counting now and doing everything else I need it to do. I will push it farther if I can get my vcore options back. All I get now are numbers and symols in my vcore options. Neve had the problem with my 2.8e. The mb is a Msi 865pe Neo-2 Plat. Edition. Btw this is on air.

I doubt that's accurate.... my cpu-z shows I am running a 3.02 vcore which I know is a lie.

hmmm whats your stepping?
and is your cpu at -23c? that might be part w/why your able to run it like that!
although its obvious you dont have any problems w/the setup, what happens when you run it at stock? are the readings normal?

No my cpu temps is temp2 which shows 49c. And at stock speeds my bios reads the same thing as speed fan. It does not matter stock or overclocked the vcore read 1.25 in speed fan and bios. Maybe its not accurate maybe it is but the Heat sink is barely warm to the touch. Who knows? And my stepping is a DO-SL7E5.

hm... what happens when you raise the voltage in the bios?
and have you tried changing the multi to 14x for a higher fsb? :D

When I go to select any vcore options all I get are numbers and symbols. And when I select different ones the vcore still reads the same in the bios and speedfan. I do know that these MSI 865pe's undervolts like a mother. And the multiplier is locked so thats a no go.

Heres a run at 3dmark2k1 with everything at default except cpu.

sounds like you may have a problem with your vcore reading correctly if your seeing symbols and what not in the options for it in bios it would make me think something isnt right somewhere along the way.

still impressive to hit 4ghz on air though alot of people cant get there on water.

Well I have finally found a way to up the vcore. And now shes cruising along at 4.2ghz with only 1.4vcore. Will post pics later but heres a quick run at 3dmark2k1 with no tweaking and stock clocks on the 9800pro.

Nice clocks!

Would like to see that on a more overclocking freindly board. Confirmed your vcore via a DMM? That reading it probably off, or under severe load. I can get my vcore down to the 1.39 range even though i push almost 1.5 into it under load. Go droop mod :p

No I havent check it with a dmm. Ya my board does the same thing yours does. It undervolts somewhat. I admit though this MSI mb could be better although I can't complain with it right now. But I'm afraid this is the end of the overclocking adventure for now because this antec true power 430 is at its limits.

What's that -23? your room temp?

Hahahaa...srry. But i actually beat you on 2 scores in 3dmark01 with my rig somehow, that makes me happy :) (my fsb was 263, not 260)

I think you can tweak your system more if my rig topped yours at all...at least i would imagine.

When I was doing my droop mod, I checked my voltages with a multimeter just to be sure. I found that even without the mod in place (I used a jumper so I can remove the mod anytime), the reporting is not accurate. There is noise in the system, at least in a p4p800, and it seems to be reporting the peaks in the noise. Also, the reporting laggs real time by a second or two.

Yea i have one of those mobos with a older 533 2.8ghz@3.8ghz and they do undervolt like a mofo my 1.9volts reads like 1.80volts. The motherborad can overclock pretty high i have seen some doing 300fsb. I am just waiting for some licky E0's to come to town so i can hit 4ghz on air o wee.

1.8 volts on a 130nm Northwood?!? SNDS much?

A real digital voltmeter is really the only sure way to accurately detect any of your voltage settings, including rail voltages as well as VDIMM, VCPU, AGTL and AGP/Northbridge. My board overvolts my DIMMs slightly; 2.85 in BIOS is about 3.05 in reality. It under-reports all three of my rails to varying degrees, the 5v rail being the worst (almost 10% off at certain points). My vCPU is pretty close, only about 0.03v off from reality.
