I have been able to awake a system in standby using remote desktop. The system in question had a 3com nic that was capable of remote wakeup. are there any wireless cards that support this feature? Is this in the right forum?
thanks

Its sort of a hardware question. In a true wake on lan situation the the system is off rather than in standby. The NIC still gets power and is able to boot the system if it is sent a magic packet which I beleive is is comprised of the mac address digits backwards and some other numbers thrown in.

I think there are several wake options from standby, lan, keyboard etc. It might be possible to do through wireless.
