My new system:
-----------
athlon 1.4 ghz w/ Thermaltake DRAGON ORB3+ (from newegg.com)
iwill kk266-plus
512 mb pc 133
leadtek 32mb g2 pro
case w/ 340 watts PSU
and other components
-------------------------------
I installed everything but when I turned on my comp, it didnt post.
So, I tried removing all the other components from my M.B. except video card and memory but still didnt post. Dont tell me there's something wrong w/ my cpu. It's a pain installing the Thermaltake DRAGON ORB3+ especially with the layout of socket 462 of this MB. I hate it when the system doesnt post. ****es me off. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE HELP. THANKS.
Try to reset the CMOS(jumpers) & see if you can get it to post with the default settings in the BIOS. Check some sites about the compatibility of your chip & mobo. Just to make sure; Did you check it at the store if everything worked?
If Sonny's suggestion doesn't work, remove the motherboard from the case and place it on a non-conductive surface to make sure that the case itself isn't shorting anything out. If it still doesn't work, carefully examine your motherboard and setup and make sure nothing else would be shorting out the motherboard. If that's another no-go - try and borrow some other parts and try them!
And when you say it doesn't power-on self-test, do you mean that or do you mean that nothing turns on at all? Fans, etc?
I forgot to clarify something. When you said "installed" did you mean you were able to install the OS? I mean if it did actually work for a while then just stopped working
Valid - Good point on the short.

if you could test out another socket a chip in it that you know works
Thanks. I probably wouldn't have thought of it except I had a problem with a short recently. :\ It turned out being the way the MC462 mounts itself to the motherboard. (Those 4 metal mounting studs) I just checked a picture of that Dragon Orb3 on newegg and it appears to mount traditionally, though, so I don't think that would be shorting your board.
What's the brand of your Power Supply?
A long shot but here goes. SOME BIOS versions do not recognize a 1.4GHz chip so do try a slower chip from one of your buds that have it layin' around their room & check if you can update you BIOS. Let the shop you bought it from do it(flash) & see if that'll work. Tons of ideas here so let us know ASAP.

Thanks everyone for helping. It turned out that my video card wasnt seated properly. I had to unmount my MB, put the video card in first then mount the MB to the case. Thanks for all the suggestions.
DOH(Homer quote)!!! Could you run some benchies & post them on my thread "Sandra 2001 Stuff". Been wondering about stock results of them 1.4s
