View Full Version : does 6mhz makes a diff?
Installed:
win2000 servpack 2
latest videocard driver (tried both beta and official)
I have a score of 3060 in 3dmark2001 with the cord/mem speed of 189mhz. and I gain a big 1 POINT when I clocked it to 195mhz. that's a lot of gaining. so anyway, I wonder if 6mhz make a big diff? if it does, how come I only gain 1 point? what might be the bottle neck?
If it doesn't make any diff. then nevermind about the question.
***Whoops, radeon :)***
I saw about 250 points when I went to 234 mhz.
Dunno why yours won't go higher, try powerstrip in the link in my signature below.
Yeah, i got powerstrip. HyperZ enable
and don't forget, I got a LE and only 32meg not a 64 like yours
It's possible that's all she gets.
I'm new to radeon, love the card though (drivers are a bit crappy, but not too bad :)).
maybe a more experienced Radeon user can be of further assistance.
To answer your question, 6 Mhz dosn't really make all that much of a difference when it comes to framerates and gaming and such. I wouldn't worry about the score too much. How high can you overclock that card? Try for a higher Mhz (about 200 or so) and then run your test again. That might squeeze out a few more frames.
And PowerStrip is garbage for overclocking Radeons. Get RadeonTweaker from http://www.tweakfiles.com Enable fast HyperZ clear, and enable HyperZ on that card (I believe that its disabled by default) and you might also wanna check your AGP Strength. Make sure its as high as you can go (4x is as high as they go now) You might be running lower, and that can impact performance.

3DMark200X has a rather large margin of error, sometimes up to 500 3DMarks (Or so I've heard. I've never had a bigger then 30 3DMark margin of error though).
My point is that when you got your initial score, perhaps you had just restarted your computer, whereas when your second test came to be, you had been using your computer more.
