The board I am looking at is: ASRock K7S41GX 741GX 400Mhz On-board Video AGP8X 2PCI 2DDR 6xUSB2.0 5.1-Audio LAN (http://www.asrockamerica.com/Products/K7S41GX.htm)

By no means do I intent to do some hard core gaming with onboard video, but I found out my xp2100 chip can be rma'd and I would like to get better video than an ati rage IIC will give me. It will be mated with either 256 or 512 DDR on the board. The chip is palamino, but when I get it RMA'd they told me theres a chance I might get a tbred outta it :p

Anyways, this is going to replace the 8kta+ and the 800 duron I have, I can get the board for 60 bucks.

The main purpose I want better video is for winamp visualizations, mpeg2 vids and dvds. the rage is fine for mpeg's, havent watched a dvd yet but I cant use the majority of my fav winamp vis because it isnt 3d accelerated.

Will this board be a good upgrade choice for my carputer?

Any 3D video card "supports" all past and present versions of DirectX. However, they dont have the additional features
