how long does it take you to decode a reg(8gig) dvd?

im not sure if i should make a pole, but as i was reading along a thread in a different forum someone was bragging how they had such a awsome computer and it only took them 30 min to decode a dvd w/40% compression

well, it takes me between 15-20 min to decode the avg dvd which im very happy about considering my dad has a 2.4a(400) takes about 30 min on avg

please post your max dvd-read speed and your avg time!

btw, anyone ever make a thread about this?

Are you actually talking about Ripping? or Re-encoding into another format for later editing? Ripping my video from a DVD format Takes Me only about 10-20Min, but re-encoding takes another hour.
