Mojo: try reinstalling the drivers. Or try a real sound card :)

And please take the link out of your signature...that's a privilege reserved for senior members.

lol - privelige? Or would u all rather me upload the image everytime - i stick the link there rather than waste peoples time be forcing them to download it when they dont wanan see it - so until a senior/moderator whatever tells me to take ti off then i will -

you aint the boss so dont boss ppl around - if the mods/seniors dont like it then im sure they will tell me :P

Nsver the less it is reserved for seniors. You may also want to watch the tone. That is highly frowned upon here......

As for your sound prob, did you install the mobo drivers?

Please put the link in the spot reserved for it in your profile and not in your signature. Links to webpages and websites is a privilege reserved for Senior Members.

Thanks,

And for your information, we don't allow pics to be in signatures...it takes too long for the 56k'ers to download and some people would likely go overboard with too many pics.

And you're right. I'm not the boss. But the boss says not to have them there and the boss runs this place so I suggest you listen to him.

PS: The boss also says be nice to your fellow overclockers :)

PPS: Skip is the man! :D :D :D

What version of windows are u using?
I was using 98 with a old soundblaster modem/soundcard and it sounded like crap.

So I installed windows 2000 and it sounded perfect. U can try that and see if it works.:D

Amedeo602, I mean you no disrespect, however...

I really don't think you have any right to comment on the file size of an externally link file in this guys signature, considering your avatar alone is 122 KB.

122 / 5 = 24 seconds to download on a 56 K modem.

The issue is it is not allowed. The rule comes from Skip.......

It's funny your blasting some guy because he has a link to an external file, that doesn't display unless the user clicks on it, therefor not using ANY of the 56K'ers bandwidth (except for maybe the 50 bytes that make up that Link) and then there is big A with his 122 KB Avatar and that isn't a problem to a 56K'er?

Skip needs to considering limiting Avatar size also.

Edit: forgot stuff

Then I guess you should take that up with him.

I believe what he stated was that "Some people might go overboard" with the amount of pictures in the signature area.

Nevertheless, if a person is not a Senior member, then the only place for a link is in the spot provided for it in the profile. Putting the URL into the profile will put a button under your post (www) that links to your page.

The only non-seniors allowed to have links in their signatures are members of the Overclockers.com Folding and SETI teams, and only then to the team pages.

Why is this an issue? It is plainly listed in the Forum Guide, and is one of the rules that we enforce. Arguing about it won't gain anything. If Mojoman wants to put the pic from his link into the avatar area, and it doesn't advertise someones website, fine.

Let's stick to discussing the sound problem and let the link issue die, ok?

i got similar problem...
once connected to the net, sound go crazy...

Luie

maybe is my modem

samuknow
09-18-01, 09:39 AM
Make sure your sound card and modem are not on the same IRQ. If so move one of them to a different slot. With newer mobo and chipsets this is not usually a prob. But some modems and sound cards still have a problem with this....

Luie
09-19-01, 04:59 AM
the problem is that my modem is in an AMR slot. only one on the board. and the sound is internal...

how can i fix this?
:(

samuknow
09-19-01, 08:46 AM
You might be able to manually set the IRQ in the BIOS. At least for the modem. There should be an adjustment for this.

Luie
09-19-01, 09:19 AM
thanks, i'll try that.

samuknow

Also make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your mobo chipset and sound.....

Oh goody - the little chldren that have nothing better to do than to hassal me cos i have a tiny link to a file - has finished being babies.
</FLAME>
And for the ultra-cool-funky-kickass fellahs(an chicks) that ditn flame me and help me - thank you for not being an idiot.

btw i think that this forum has some wierd rules - scratch that f*cked up rules.

First of all, why bother differentiating "senior" members from non-senior members? It does nothing but causes people to make useless posts to increase their post count.

If you truly were a senior member, then everyone should recognize you and you wouldn't need a thing next to your name that says "senior member" and "10000 posts".

Second of all, I'm a 56ker and I have no problem whatsoever with people putting links in their sig. You don't like it? Then don't click. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it.

Thirdly, I also have the AC97. I figured I would buy a better sound card later, but I have been happy enough with the AC97 so I haven't bought another one. I do have one question though: My AC97 doesn't work in Dos mode. Is there anything I can do to make dos programs recognize this sound card? I already tried the setblaster command in autoexec.bat but it didn't solve anything.

Mojoman
09-22-01, 01:36 PM
I fully adn completely agree with u on that one - as for the ac97 - there are dos drivers - special ones - and whats wierd is that blaster etc is all set in the BIOS - soudbalster 220, DMA=1 etc all of that - wierd wierd wierd - and it also plays soudn without a driver in sound blaster mode - so when i installed win98 it was already playing sound with no driver...

anyway

yeah it is stupid that seniors are the only one who can link to a picture - who stupid is that? Yet ppl still have huge avatars - mine is a measly 7k - 1.5seconds 56k. and a link - 0.000whatever seconds.

oh well
