I am about to buy an A64 3200+(90nm) and mobo.I am still chooosing a mobo, but I also need help picking a decent RAM.I have heard wonderful things about Crucials Ballistix PC3200 RAM,and its selling for $105 per 512mb stick.I am also on a budget,so thats a little steep when I want to get 2 sticks of RAM.I also saw this Corsair Value select RAM: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=20-145-026&DEPA=0 and didnt know if it was in my best interest to go with the Ballistix or the Corsair Value Select...or maybe someone has another RAM suggestion. But,which RAM offers the most bang for the buck in an Athlon64 setup? I will also try to overclock whatever I can in this new rig. What do you suggest?

Also,is PC3200 RAM the best RAM for this setup?

where are the ballistix for $105 ? id recommend getting decent ram if you are getting a 939 rig and plan on OCing, get some tccd sticks or bh-5s that can hit high speeds

Yeah...I was leaning towards the Ballistix RAM because I heard that the micron based RAM stick perform better...but should I get PC-3200 or PC-4000?

I only want to get what I need, since my budget is so low,but I dont want to get a lesser performing RAM either.

or man you could try to go for a kingmax pc4000 its at 250 fsb at stock and it comes with a heatsink so you could push it a little more so you could overclock ur computer with a higher fsb and lower mulit.

The Ballistix were found here: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-546&depa=0

They went back up to $109 per 512mb PC3200 stick

Saud-- Those Kingmax sticks are rated at CAS3....forgive me for being rather noobish, but isnt the Ballistix PC3200 CAS 2 rating better?

EDIT: also,I read that RAM based on the micron chip performed better than those based on the Samsung chips common in Corsair and other manufacturers---at least they work better on Athlon64 systems---check out the article here: http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2145

Also, even if the majority of people suggest I go with the Corsair Value Select RAm without the heatsinks,I have a heat spreaders from 2 sticks of Corsair XMS PC3200 RAm that I accidentally destroyed(dont ask---too embarrassing)---so I could always place those heatsinks on RAm that doesnt have heatsinks...whats everyone suggest for an Athlon 64 system which I intend on overclocking? Need som RAM support here!
