I want to use the SATA as the master and the ATA/EIDE as the slave.

But, since theres only one cable for the SATA, how do I set them to master or slave?

Well the way to do that in my opinion is to go into the BIOS and change the bootpriority.

Since they are on seperate channels, they are both "master" of their own dedicated channel.

So I gotta set the ATA/EIDE as master?

Oh, and what about the jumper setting for my CD-rom? I only have one.

Do you have the cd-rom and the HDD on the same channel? than one has to be master, probably the HDD, and the CD slave.... If they are on seperate channels, or if they don't share the same ribbon-cable they both have to be master.

Depending which Drive you want to boot your operating system from, that one should have the OS installed and selected as the first hard disk to search upon boot.

SATA on port SATA1
IDE hd on port IDE1
CD burner on port IDE2.
All set as "master".

No worky :-/

I'll go check the jumpers. Then when I get that sorted out, I'm gonna find the guy that thought it'd be a good idea to use jumpers on hard drives and sock him.

What "no worky"?
What doesn't seem to work?
You set all of them to master and hooked them up where I suggested.
What does the "boot up" screen read? Does it show the devices?

Installing a SATAN are we? i hear they transfer at an ungodly 666MB/s...

anyway, if you have 1 SATA drive, 1 IDE drive and another CD drive, all on different channels, then you could probably take off all the jumpers because that would default them to 'Cable Select' and that would sort it out for you. Master/Slave is only needed/used for drives on the same IDE channel. if you have a SATA drive and an IDE drive, neither one is the 'master' or 'slave' because they dont need to be.

Really?

*throws jumpers out of the window*

"What does the "boot up" screen read? Does it show the devices?"

I think my floppy disc drive a sploded, so I just bought a new one and I'm going to see if it works. If it doesn't work, I'll return it. If it does work, I'll still return it. I intend to save money. That's my style.

Be back in a while to see if it works. Or I might not be back, ESPN NFL 2k5 is currently seducing me into a quick game.
