Congratulations!! The first WU is the best milestone of them all (well.... mabey after the thousand.... :D ). Good luck with SETI!

BTW: That must have been a low AR work unit... My 466 cele did a WU every 18 to 22 hours with the GUI.... That 600P3 can only get faster!

YES!!! ANOTHER SETI BROTHER!!!! MUUWAHAHAHAHAHA...::deep breath:: Anyway, it's great to see you on the team...always need help. I'm right now crunching my 30th WU!! Yes, the old Pentium 3 1ghz has not failed me...at least for this month. But 17 hours...wow...my friend runs AOL and crunches at the same time w/ his pentium2 400mhz and gets about 14-16 hours. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

17 hours

Man, if I was to spend 17 hours on each WU I'd never have passed the 2K milestone  :p

A little bit of advice. Use the command-line client. It's much much MUCH faster than the heavy GUI thing ;). Here's some examples: P2-266@12h, P3-450@8h and P3-850@6h.

Simple ... use it for nothing but SETI@home ;) :D. Alright, maybe you don't wanna do that.

It's actually a P3-700 oc'ed to between 826MHz and 889MHz so I just averaged it out. I was seldom below 6 hours so the actual average might 6½ (I never sat down and made statistics and since SETI@home was running on multiple computers it had to be an estimate).

AFAIK, they've also made the current versions do more calculations on each WU effectively making them about 10% slower compared to versions before 3.03 I think (grabbing this one from the far reaches of my memory - could be wrong).

I've almost stopped running SETI@home now. It just doesn't seem to be fun after making it to 2000 WUs. I only run it on my workstation at school (P3-733) now and hope to make 2500 and get yet another SETI@home certificate  :p.
