Hi guys, well i got my new 1.4ghz Y processor and I finally got around to trying to over clock it but I can not go past 142 fsb it post and goes to windows but never fully loads then reboots. Im only running 37 degrees... could my gf3 be messing me up? its at 53 celcius. Also I can't run prime 95 whens cpu is over clocked if I leave at 1.4 it works 1450...it says i have hardware failure. Any clues to what could be going on? I wanted to lower mult to 10 and put it at 150 fsb to improve performance. Thanks Ron

my system goes as followed
System
Icebox1000 340watt psu
1.4ghz Y 266
epox 8k7a
512 corsair pc2400
gf3 asus 64ddr

40gig 60x 7200rpm ata 100
Rounded yellow ata cables
cooling

1 hd cooler intake

You might have to turn up the Vcore a bit to get it to run stable... with the low temps you have that should not be a problem.
What Vcore are you running at now?

I would doubt that it is the video card here is what you need to do:

Overclock it using the multiplier not the fsb that way you can find out the chips max with out any periphrials coming into play.

If you can get it higher using the multipier then go ahead and start to oc it using the fsb. First take out any pci cards. Then raise it a little at a time until you reach the max. Then start adding cards back in until you find out what is holding you back.

If you take out all your pci cards and such and still can not oc it as high as you can with the multiplier then you probably need to back down your memory timings.

I personally would set all memory timings at the lowest values at first, check out what the Chipset and CPU can do, and after that I would go for higher memory speed...So you know for sure, that your stability problems, you might encounter are created by your Ram, and you donīt have to make guesses on what may be the Prob

Just an Idea:)

hey ozzy
im not sure the details on the gf3..but the gf2 runs stable at 3.3 v...at less that 3.1 it will cause major hangs..etc...ussually the first page of manual will tell you this info...and if you mobo supplies power to the vid thru its own power regulator it proves to do this again because not enuff watts..gf2 needs 16.2 if i remember...check it out... i bet they are pretty close to the same :)
