2000 was designed to optimize GF2 cards.
2001 was designed with GF3 cards in mind...........thus the lower scores with GF2 cards.
Artifacting means the video overclock is too high. You'll have to lower the mem/core until the artifacts go away.
Part of overclcocking a video card, the more time consuming part, is running 3dmark after each increase.
I usually only run the bump mapping benchmarks as they tend to push the card to its fullest and are easiest for detecting artifacting.

What brand? I had the MSI flavor of this card at it rocked to:
3D-2000, 6000+
3D-2001, 4000+
This was done with massive overclocking and a modified Blorb. The O/C was 205/230 and under Win98
Now my new GeForce 2 Pro+ O/C'd to 240/480 and running WinXP will not do much better. What is going on there? Is WinXP that crappy with benchmarking?

Its a Gefocrs2 MX 400 by Visiontek.
Pinky its artifacts even at stock I think its pushing the card to hard. The res was way to high.

3dMark 2001 is alot harder also it focuses more on the graphics card, but for your system you should be getting much higher an mx should give about 2500 in 2k1......i used to get 1200 with my old rage fury pro.....and 2300 in 2000

well right now I am running off a 533 celeron at 600. I am thinking about breaking out the 633 and bumping it way up but I want a new board before I start OCing it to hard.
Ambient. something's way wrong. Your processor has little or nothing to do with what you're describing.
I urge you to spend the time and do a fresh install, installing all the latest drivers during setup. I can't tell you how many times I spent hours trying to fix something and ended up reinstalling anyway.

Well I am trying to burn off everything on my system and then I'll do a fresh format. I just need about 15 more hours to do it. :) I go through way to many disk.
