View Full Version : Why Not Fold TOO?

I finally joined our folding team. At first I was only going to devote two boxes to it, but I discovered that Win2k does a very good job of running both at the same time - even on a single cpu system. My work unit times have hardly decreased at all, but I have no idea how slow the folding client is going compared to what it might otherwise be. Anyway I thought it might be a good idea to join our other team that is doing quite well.

Great post TC.
Im already a F@H member, but that box has been down for the past 2 months so I havent really been doing my part...I tryed running both on a single cpu system and didnt get good results but that may be because I leave seti on low priority.

From what I can gather from various boards I think there are quite a few people that participate in more than one project at a time, splitting their boxen amoung two or more efforts. Not a thing wrong with it in my book. I personally just do SETI but it appears that all the current projects have good support accross the board. I think it's all great.

If I had more than just this one box, I might downlad F@H just to see what it looks like, and if I would like to keep it. But that's only IF I get a new comp. This comp is PURE SETI CRUNCHIN POWA!

I did both for a while, but stopped for now. I want to see us at the top 10 before I move on, ofcourse then I will want to see us at #1!!!!

I brought my dedicated folding comp (Celly 466) to SETI only, since it wasn't doing much to my stats for folding. It's great to be part of both teams, as they're doing so well (our F@H team is 2nd in production). I would put SETI on my other boxes if I could throttle the cpu towards folding a little. :)

Well with Stanman gone I wonder what will happen...

That shouldn't be much of a problem...just get SETIDriver and use it to set SETI's priority to low and just make sure that Folding is at normal. :)

Then F@H takes up all the cpu. This is what I used to do so I would have some DC work during F@H server outages.

Oh. Guess I hadn't thought of that.

Too bad, really. :)

I have it going 50/50 right now, if my FAH stats show a big decrease, I'll only run SETI some of the time, but if I stay in the top 25 or 30 for production, I'll keep it this way. My SETI times don't seem too bad right now.

i was just wondering how my little duron would fare running folding at the same time as seti?
would my seti times drop a bit?
and is there a program to cache wu's for it,aka setidriver style?

any thoughts would be appreciated
:)

I've noticed with my boxes that the completion times for each project will be increased by about 40% Unfortunately there isn't a way to cache units for folding. The biggest problem is you have to return a unit in under 3 days to get credit for it.

ive scrapped the idea now
not being able to cache units
the fact that it will slow my seti down
etc has made me decide
THERES ONLY ONE TEAM TO CRUNCH FOR!!
