Hey all

curious - if i put a harddrive on the end of a SCSI cable can it act as a terminator?

i have a 76G seagtae cheetah and an SCSI card, but no terminator cable - may have to order one, i havea 68 pin to 80pin adapter for the drive.

some drives have terminators built in.

Generally, the only drives with termination will be narrow, 50 pin, interfaces. Wide, 68 pin, drives can supply termination power(not normally necessary), but will not terminate.

so an 80 pin will not likely terminate?

Unfortunately, SCA2 spec has no chance to have anything other than termination power and that only if the backplane or adapter allows it. Term power is normally supplied by the controller and normally not be the drives.
