How do I clean Artic Silver II of my CPU

I was installing a new heatsink and wiping off AS of the cpu and it smear everywhere on the cpu. What do I use to clean if off.

isopropyl alcohol swabs work great
but anything with alcohol

Alcohol will NOT remove Arctic Silver from the ceramic plate the CPU die is mounted on. Read the instructions from Arctic Silver. (http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions.htm)

Use some very mild liguid dish- soap, like palmolive. Its works well. Make sure to get the soap off really well and dry it with a soft rag. Thats what I did and I have no problems.

The easiest method is to use a clean eraser. It is very fast and just blow off the eraser bits when you're done.

whatever you use, try to steer clear of the L1 bridges. you may need to re-pencil them if you get any cleaning agents on them
