256mb ocz pc150

I have read in a couple of beta bios specs posted on a couple of sites that say the kt7a doesn't support the 1.4 with unlocked L1's. I need to know if anyone knows if this is true? Of course if it is I will be buying the 1.33 or 1.2 maybe. Please advise....

TaNKs Ahhhhhhhh..... :D

Justin...Welcome to the Forums. I have not read anything regarding your statement on Unlocked 1.4 T-Birds not working on the KT7A. If you go w/ the latest 3R BIOS for your board, you have support for up to 1.4Gig AMD CPU's.

I'm currently running a 1.33 on a KT7ARaid and it came from AMD w/ the L1 bridges intact (unlocked). I have had the chip up to 1.58Gig on the board w/ no problems utilizing various FSB settings and multipliers up to 11.5.

So I would say that either the 1.33 or 1.4 will work on your board.
You can find the 3R BIOS details here (http://www.abit.com.tw/eng/download/bios/bios-kt7a.htm). Considering the fact that the KT7 boards use SDRAM, you might be better off going w/ the cheaper CPU, as the increase in MHz will be harder to notice on a system w/ SDRAM. Anyone else heard about probs w/ unlocked 1.4's???

I am using the 3r bios. I could never find any info on Abit's site. I saw the thing about no support for 1.4 with unlocked bridges on amdzone.com. I tried to look on their site for old news but found nothing. It was one of those news things. I saw it more than once, whenever they would post a new beta bios for the kt7-kt7a, which are now the offical versions It would say " no support for 1.4 with unlocked bridges, please verify your cpu has locked bridges before purchasing." No other site I can find has this info. I guess I will have to email Abit. Tanks for the post. ;)

i think that refers to the ability of the mobo to detect the speed of the chip. if you are willing/able to choose the clock and multiplier settings on your own, the 1.4 should work fine.

i have a KT7A-R with a 1.4, but i don't remember if it was unlocked or what. I have been changing the multiplier like hell though so i must be unlocked. everything has been working beautifully and am running at 1540 with a simple Volcano 5 hsf. i was at 1600 but my fan is too weak and good ones are too loud. temps run low 30's for idle and mid-50's loaded. hope this helps at all.
