Can I Delete This "Prefetch" Or Whats Inside It

While uninstalling Need For Speed U1 I searched for any other contents to it just incase it didn't remove everything. And it came up with the prefetch to it I deleted it since it wasn't there so I thought since I've removed some other games a few weeks back I went to find there prefetch. Low behold the Prefetch folder was full of crap I didn't have anymore now here's what I want to know.

1) What is the prefetch folder for?

2) Can I delete it's contents of just the stuff I don't have installed?

prefetch is something that windows uses to cache programs that are opened so they will open faster in the future.

Yes, you can delete the contents. It will fill up again anyways.

It won't hurt anything to delete everything from it, but you should just delete the old stuff you don't need anymore.
