Just got it today and will install it when I get home tonight.

Question: Are they hard to install on the CPU? I have a GlobalWin WBK-38 at the time.

How much better cooling should I expect. My temps have been in the low 50's C with my GLobalwin. I am hoping to get 45c max under load.

I have read many reviews and they all say this is a very good HSF.

with a good thermal assembly you should be able to hit around 40C

Excellent! I hope i can that temp!
I want to add more core voltage so that I can clock it a little higher. I have my CPU at 1.79v now. I cant get past 1500 with stability, so I wonder how much more voltage the CPU will need?

I also am installing a new Enermax 450w powersupply and getting rid of my Enlight 250w.

sounds good, take ur time when applying the thermal compound and make sure you tight-seal the ASII cap, it dries quickly

I just got an SK6 a couple of weeks ago and it's da bomb diggity.... (sorry for using that phrase, but it really is).

You shouldn't have trouble installing it.... the clip has a little tab designed specifically for a slotted screwdriver. Make sure you put even pressure on the heatsink (with your hand) and THEN install the clip.

Mine was a little rough (I could feel machining marks when I ran my fingernail over it) so I lapped it a little before I installed.

My load (folding) temps went from 45-46 C with an FOP38 down to 39-41 C. This is with a TBird 1 GHz @ 1333 (133x10), 1.775 volts on the core.

I'm getting my KT7A Raid voltmodded later today and that in tandem with a better PSU should let me get up to 1450 or so, hopefully.

The SK-6 should definitely be lapped. Mine wasn't flat at all, but after lapping it to a mirror finish I've achieved some very nice temps :).

Lapping is always a good thing to do, with every HS..
But I´m not for the mirror finish thing. I stopped always at 600 grit, it´s smooth enough and the thermal paste will still stick to the bottom of the HS

I chose to go all the way and use 2000 grit to get a real nice finish. However, it was hard work because the HS had a VERY concave bottom :(.

I had to start with 240 (IIRC) to get a flat surface and then proceed with 500, 1000 and finally 2000 grit to get a nice smooth finish.

BTW, I've seen several people reporting that the SK-6 was anything but smooth so I'd advise to at least give it a minimal lapping.

Woohoo!! Installed Sk-6 and my CPU temps dropped by 5c !

Still not as low as I thought though? Should I Lap it?

as long as you're lapping it flat.... it couldn't hurt.... use several progressively smoother (higher grit #) sandpapers until you're up to 600-1000 grit... as long as you're doing it right you won't hurt anything.
