View Full Version : OCZ PS520 vs modded Antec Tru480
I am experiencing some lower voltage with my Tru480 since I went to the A64 platform with an MSI Neo2. Before with my Abit Max3 the rails at idle showed good. Now they are all under. I was thinking of doing the mod posted here a few days ago but also was considering just getting an OCZ 520 instead. What is going to make me happier? Current system is a Winchester/Neo2 combo with an X800Pro<XT, 2 SATA dives, 3 opticals, with 3 120mm case fans. Is the +40watts worth it if I can get the rails up to snuff with the mod? Opinions please

Hi Pntgrd -
I don't run AMD, so I can't comment directly, but thought I'd point out the OCZ 520 is currently out-of-stock at OCZ, and I haven't found a vendor with stock, anywhere, Stateside.
If you're in a hurry, the 520's probably SOL, for the immediate moment!

Why not try doing the sense mod first ( I am assuming you are talking about this mod) and see if it solves your problems. If that dosn't by the time you get it all completed they might have the 520watt version back in Stock.
Why not try doing the sense mod first That idea came to me after I posted, and yes it is the sense mod. I also thought about maybe using one of the 4 or 5 other psu's I have sitting around and trying a dual setup. I have been reluctant to do that as I can just see my Wife turning on the main system without turning on the fans. That could be avoided with an older non-atx to test it out if needed.
sorry to thread crap but are there problems with the trueblue and a64s? obviously i have one and my next upgrade will be a64.
I read up some more on the sense mod and decided against doing it. Would probably have to spend upwards of $50.00 to do it by the time I got everything, like a DMM (I must ask for one of these for Father's Day), 15w soldering iron. I figured why not just add a little more and I picked up a Fortron Blue Storm 500W. It not only should have plenty of power and dual 12v rails, it also will go nicely in my "blue-themed" case. The only question I will need to ask is this: Has anybody ever answered the question of are the rails adjustable?
I believe the AX-500 owners here reported finding accessable adjustment pots, but you can use the search engine to verify that.
