I just set up Win 2K in dual boot with SE.

I reinstalled QIII and while trying to play notices that it seemed very DARK. Tried to brighten in the control panel and no luck. Also tried to up the brightness with the display properties. Had no effect in the game. Has anyone else had this prob? I ahve been playing Half Life in 2K with no probs. Will I just have to boot up in 98 to Quake?

Have you checked the gamma or other brightness setting in the game itself?

Yes, I tried everything I could think of. It's like it has no effect......

Do you run 2K and Q3?

I do and have never had a problem with it. I notice you are using a Geforce card. Have you installed the NVidia Windows 2000 refresh fix? That would help since you are probably running the game at the default rate of 60 hz which is not that great.

What is refresh fix?

I have the 12.90 drivers for win 2K installed. I moved the slider back to the dim side and at a certain point it got a little brighter. After moving it back up it had no effect again.
