View Full Version : AMD fans. Please Read.
AMD fans, you have your own message board. If your going to slam intel do it there or in the debates section. This page is for intel help ect. I see a lot of posts with people asking for help on their intel system and the responses end up being "sell it and buy an amd." If people want to buy an AMD chip then they can ask about it in your message forum.
If intel fans are posting crap on your page please direct them back here. any debates as to which company's processor you find better should be posted in the debates section.
Thanks for listening.

good advice....
but in a perfect world, we would have both CPU's as both (ok 4) have thier own pros and cons.

"We are AMDorg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."
LOL, at least thats what some of the AMD people sound like to me :) I've got two Intel machines, one older AMD machine (K6-3), and a Duron machine will be in my home as soon as I can get my hands on an EP-8KHA+ . I think I can honestly say I have no bias twards either.

amd all the way!
lol.......=)
it has been 4 months since i posted in the intel section
Yes I crossed over from Intel to AMD month's ago. I also had my first notorius "cruched core" and killed my 1.2 gig T-Bird. Sort of sucks. After that happened I was wishing I had stuck with Intel. Even though it was my fault. I was'nt carefull installing my waterblock a few months ago. The chip actually ran for a long time with the corner crushed. Then I think I got a little sloppy with the ASII and got some on the crushed part of the core. Then bye, bye, cpu. Now I'm waiting on my Duron 700 (low on cash) which should be here today. :) But I'm running this awesome PII 350 right now!
I've got nothing against Intel. Hell if my BE6-II never would have died I'd still be running an intel system right now most likely.
One thing I will never do is bash someone for there CPU preference. Each has it's own advantages over the other I believe. So it's strictly a matter of opinon. Which we all need to respect.

I built a Cyrix3 system for my little cosins last christmas(they are 10 and 12). It seemed slow to me. But they after having moved up to it from a 486 couldn't believe the framerates they got in DoomII . . . . .

Even for a cyrix LOL! My uncle built a system with a cyrix a few years back. I did'nt have the heart to tell him he made a mistake though. I said "looks like a pretty good system". But then again every system he's ever built he ends up taking it to the PC store to get it working. Never fails. I'd get them running for him but he lives 3 hours away from me. He's got so many worthless old computer parts lying around and he keeps buying more. I have no idea why. He orders the cheapest stuff he can get his hands on. He does'nt understand you have to spend a little money to get good parts.

When you reply to a post, it automaticaly goes back to the top...so when someone posts a bump, it just means he/she feels the info needs to be seen by all.
BTW, I agree..I don't bash the AMD side....(I don't even troll in those waters)..and it does get tiring seeing replies like "buy an AMD"...it kinda reminds me of those religious fanatics wanting everybody thinking like they do, and they will kill all who do not.
Amd will not fall off the map if I don't buy one of their chips, and I like Intel, so leave me and my intel lovin people alone...flamewars we don't need.....Peace
P.S. Bump.
Hey, if we had a cheap cpu thread I'd spend all my time there!
Seriously, the bashing is NOT needed: I run both, I'm a fan of both cpu makers!
I don't have any real preference except that the next one I build should be a fast Intel- since i just built a fast AMD!
If you really need to "bash" someone, please go somewhere besides OC.com!!!!
Seems like almost everybody that has been messing with comps. for a few years has used both AMD and Intel and a lot of us have more than 1 system running now.
For me its always been about price vs. performance as I am on a very limited budget

the thing that sucks the most about AMD is heat.

hmm, I think I will SUPER BUMP this one at least for a little bit. I think the same can go in the AMD section although it isn't quite as bad. It isn't really bashing, its more of bickering.
BONK
Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way! Us Intel fans know all about how great and cheap your AMD is, but we have Intel so knock it off! :D:D

I posted this partial response in the WHY P4 thread:
I think to help resolve some of these wars everyone should use certain recommended benchmarking softwares and have a continueing running thread to post their scores to compare.
I know it is a sticky but us AMD guys aren't too bright so

I have never owned an AMD system. I'll confess that right now. I have nothing against AMD systems, just their users for being such morons for telling people who have INTEL CPU problems to buy AMD. I'm sure not all AMD users are not like this, just the AMD users who come on here and say that. We all have our preferences. I've worked on AMDs before, and I've worked on Intels before, and from what I see of AMDs, Intel processors are better for me. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THE USER IS GOING TO USE THEIR COMPUTER FOR! If you're doing CAD or something with 3D graphics, I'd say Intel. E-mail, web, or MAYBE gaming (it's kind of a toss up), go with AMD. I just prefer the performance of an Intel processor and paying a little more than paying less and getting a space heater. But I digress. If I wanted an AMD processor, I'd buy one, so they can just go away. I never touch the AMD forum cause I don't own one, don't want to own one, and can respect the people who do. I don't care who you are, but if someone's having problems with their Intel processor/system, the last thing they want to hear is "buy AMD". Go to the debate section if you want to tell everyone why your processor is so much better. I certainly hope that no one is doing that with Intel's name in there.
I can't say this enough: IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THE USER IS GOING TO USE THEIR COMPUTER FOR! So we hope anyone on here is smart enough to know wether they want an AMD or an Intel system and they don't need people pushing one or the other. So unless someone asks specifically which to buy, don't bother. No one wants to hear it.
i know thank the lord. I posted another time about amd people slamming intel.... if they are soo confident of their product, why do they have to slam intle saying intel is inferior to amd.....
Honestly can anyone say that they are really fans of one over the other? Were all just followers of market trends. Ive owned cyrix, AMD and Intel but all purchases have gone along with the equation Speed(or perfomance)+$$=Best deal. I also used to be a big fan of 3dfx but as soon as a better(S)+ and cheaper($$)=(nVidia) deal came along its time for a change. I am sure that if tomorrow Via/Cyrix produced a 4gig processor all debate would be ended. Its better to go along with todays winner than yesterdays loser but I am still a great fan of my past purchases (many of which I have retained)

believe it or not MrX there are people who dont do this, it doesnt matter which one is faster or better or cheaper, some people must have that brand.......there are many people that would pay 100 dollars more for a ti500 that is maybe 10fps faster, and there are people who would pay 145 dollars for a radeon64DDR VIVO when a geforce2Pro is 98......for most people there must be a really good argument to get the other brand......

Hmmm i think MrX does make a good point here i remember years ago when Intel is selling hot (ok it's still hot now) and AMD just released it's K6-2 which wasn't famous yet in my place. I go around telling everyone, "no need to choose, AMD no good, intel is the best". But now since lots of benchmark (if not all) shows that AMD beats intel, i go around telling everyone "AMD is good and cheap, intel is no good". But frankly speaking, i really hope there will be another processor comes compeatting with the two main cpu manufacturer now. Because competition means improvement. :)
Btw now i know what bump means. I thought i just means that someone accidently came to the wrong thread sooo he says "oh sorry, i bump into the wrong forum".
But since funnyperson says "SOME" ppl will stick to the certain brand. I think he is right tooooo.

Hey I love amd their performance numbers are great, fantastic and the price wow. Its just that I have had a lot of friends who say the heat(and its need for power) are an issue and if you o/c be careful what you save buying amd you make up for buying huge power supplys and expensive cooling. A couple of buddies didn't just have to replace their cpu but their Mb,and ram after it burnt out. I like the room for error that intel allow with out the death penality if things don't work out. Otherwise the newest dual amd looks tempting.
