my current system is a classic athlon 750, running at 863. Ive had no problems with this system, until recently. When I turn on my computer in the morning, it posts up until it tests the memory, but then it just sits there, nothing more. If I leave it like that for a couple minutes, then restart, then my system posts to windows, without any problems after that. I have ruled out my memory through swapping. What else could it be?

Run "msconfig" and click on the Start Up tab. You will probably notice you have a ton on things (drivers and such) loading at start up. Uncheck everything but systray and explorer. Try a fresh boot.

Da Whip, heīs not talking about Windows boot, his machine hangs while memory testing direct after startup I believe.
I had the same problem more or less, It turned out to be a power
problem...
Could also be the Fsb, what are your system specs?
why donīt you put them in your síg. that we can see your system..That would make things much easier
And a "warm" welcome to the forum from me:mad:

-=UR=-Ranger, I thought he said that he swapped out the memory. But it could be a PSU issue.

Even if he has swapped his memory, it could still be a FSB problem, the KX Chipset on some Mobos and also most of the Athlons itself donīt like high FSB speeds...
i read from somewhere that says the hdd needs warming up.
maybe that's the problem.
cold winter over there?

Hm donīt think the Hdd is the Problem, this wouldnīt result in a complete system hang

I have a feeling it might be my PSU. I just reformated my computer, and still getting the same problems. Thanks for your suggestions.

try using optimized defaults in bios and try booting

Though I have an older board, it does have recent bios update (9/01) on it. I have fidled with the bios settings quite a bit. This comp use to start up no problem. Made no changes, just now it hangs at memory check (b4 listing drives), if i leave it that way for a few, then restart, it posts to windows no problem
Did you change the DELAY FOR IDE INITIAL(SEC)?
