is it absolutely necessary that the agp lug on a card snap into place? mine doesnt seem to want to.

my 6600 gt didn't like too either. i ended up pulling and reinstalling it acouple of times and it seated. i helped a friend build his first rig and the same card did the same thing on his mobo (msi neo plat)

sorry to hear it. i once had a radeon that wouldn't seat, i powered it up anyways (way before i knew what i was doing) and it did not work. do other agp cards fit?

what about another mobo. it doesn't even have to be hooked up. just need to see if card will fit all the way in
I'd see if you can remove the lug from the socket. On some mobos it's not physically part of the socket (more like a snap-on bracket that surrounds the socket), so it may be possible for you to totaly scrap the lug (which is only there to ensure your card dosen't wiggle out of the socket).

Another thing to check is that it isnt your case making the card fit too tightly. I have had that happen where the mobo needed to be as far back as the screwholes would allow for a particular card to fit properly into the agp slot.
