Hey guys, here are the NEW! specs...
athlon 64 3000+
Abit AV8 K8T800pro( chipset)
512mb OCZ pc3200
431watt enermax whisper psu
*non of this is oc'ed at all, its brand new.
Ok so im benching my card and using riva tuner to overclock it...
ill push the mem up 15mhz, then bench, then 15more mhz then bench and so on... stopped at 1100 ( no artifacting or crashing)
i start to push the core. ( i make it to about 410mhz) no artifacting or crashing... sweet! check out 3dmark 05, im getting 5700 3d marks give or take ten marks, i dont remember the exact number...
so then i go to run the 3dmark demo... artifacting all over the place...
check my hardware monitor... oh snap my 6800 core is at 68c...
clock it back down.. it wont pass the riva tuner test on any settings higher than stock...
is it my cooling or my power supply holding me back?
Thanks
Paul<><

edit: sorry the card is an ALBATRON 6800gt agp (256 meg)

wat kind of 6800GT did you get. mine does 426/1170 no problems. stock cooling and stock voltage...

**EDIT**

okay so its a labatron thats better. umm, well that kinda blows. mines a BFG. it comes stock at 370/1000. whats the stock speeds on yours 350/1000?

could be both..

if its artifacting at stock speeds now.

might have killed it...

hate to agree, but you might have....

i also looked up a few things since i read your post. and some other people are having the same problem as you. but people are telling them that those temps are normal. they say that idle 60c-63c is normal. i dont see how, considering mine idles at 53C.

naa its not artifacting at all at stock speeds, and the stock speeds are 350-1000

its running extremely stable at these speeds, hl2, cs source, doom3, farcry, everything works without a hitch...

any cooling suggestions? maybe its not getting enough power? im at work now so when i get home i might give it another go and keep a better eye on those temps...
