View Full Version : Can't get Win2K to load
I have been trying to get Win2k Pro to install in a spare machine that I have and I keep getting Stop errors. The machine is a Asus K7M mb, Athlon 900 Slot A, 256 mb ram, 18 gig hd, gf2/mx400 64 mb video card. I have swapped out the video card and memory, and still no luck. I was able to get it to work fine with my Supermicro MB with a Intel 650 PII, and the same components. I have tried clean installs with a fat, fat32, and ntfs partitions.=== no luck. I tried to upgrade from Win 98se and Win ME, still no luck. Have anyone had any same encounters??? Is it the MB and cpu type???? Any help would be great....
Thanks

What stop errors are you getting.
I am getting stop error c0000221 Unknown Hard Error
\SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll.
[Above is when doing a clean install]
I even tried to delete the ntdll.dll file, and install one from my main computer that runs Win2k Pro fine, and I still have no luck.
I did get a different stop error when I tried to upgrade from ME but I wasn't able to write that one down.
Any suggestions on what to try? I have tried different copies of Win2k Pro, and I get the same error. All I have installed is a video card, a agp type, I event tried it with a pci type and still get the same error. The Motherboard does have on board sound.

Components....
Asus K7M
900 Slot A Athlon
256 MB pc100
Inno3D Tornado Geforce2 MX 400 64 Mb Video Card
or Diammond Stealth 2000 PCI video card that I have tried.
Check the HCL for Windows2000 @ www.microsoft.com. that'll have your answer. I'm thinking its not liking some of your hardware.

Not doing any overclocking on the machine. Everything is standard.
I tried to load up XP on it, and got different errors when it rebooted...

I found this article in the MSKB...
