Cant get windows to install on my friends comp???

He has a hp 8756c and it will not let me install windows. I have already installed partions on the hard-drive and am trying to get windows me on it. I know it can read cds becuase thats how i installed the partions. i set it to boot from the cd drive but i still keep getting the message No o/s in o/s disk. i do and still nothing. i tried using the boot disk to no luck. nothing seems to work. any ideas?

Are you trying to install Me using the recovery disk that came with the HP, or are you using either the Full or Upgrade version of Me?

I had an issue similar to that with my old HP 8750c with 98se on it. I was playing around with linux once and it totally fubared the formatt. Gave me the same old song when trying to restore the os. I had to create a bootable partition with fat 32 filing sys before it would allow me to reload anything. Think it's an HP thing. Loaded ok after that. Since then, I've taken some good advise and got a oem load of 2000 pro loaded it up and never a problem since!

Try disabling all other boot options except CD-ROM.
