Dead Pixels

I've had my Dell for about 2 weeks and I noticed a single small pixel that was blue that eventually went away after pressing the back of the LCD monitor in that spot.
I called Dell and they told me there is an industry standard that allows for such dead pixels. If I get 5 or more then they will repair it.
Any of you had an experiences with dead pixels?

I wont say there extremly common on lcds, but they are common enough that on any LCD newegg will only RMA it if it has 8 or more

when purchasing LCDs anandtech recommends that you acutally buy them from a store, since but stores have a policy of letting you see the monitor before you buy it/ leave the store, and most will also let you return it if you havent left the store yet, so in the future if you want a garuntee that you wont get any, you might try buying it from a store, so you can see it before you buy it.

There is only one company that I can think of that garuntees perfect LCDs and that is Falcon northwest, but there is really expensive, really nice, but very expensive

well death pixel is something is acceptable in the lcd production. Evene htough they tried to be 100% perfect this can be happn and each manufacture having diffrent warrant coverage according to the machine model and the lcd size. But customer always have a chance to change the machine if he sees the death pixl at the time he purchase it. Otherwise there is a limit of pixel before it goings to be covered under the warranty. mostly this starting from above 5 death pixels

I was very lucky with my Acer 1662, got a perfect LCD.
