Yay, today a very good friend of mine gave me a hp pavillion ze5600 for free.
Its not the most extreme system, but I didn't own a lappy for travel, and it will be great for school next semester.
specs: cpu: celeron 2.6 (100fsb x 26) *100fsb made me crack up*
ram: 740mb pc2700
vid: ATI Radeon IGP 345M
display: 15"
So, its not an amazing machine, but again it's my first mobile and it will more than suffice as just a school/ we surfing computer.
FREE is it's claim to fame....

That sounds like it will be perfect for school. I mean you dont need a power machine anyway, plus if you can not actually play any games on it you might study more :D.

Thanx guys. Yea he is a great friend, he has truly done a lot for me.
Sucka, do you have a thread on your fx-55? That system is like today's dream system... I can't imagine how much they made you dish out for that...
Celeron 2.6ghz vrs fx-55 2.6ghz mine should be able to cope right? LOL

It doesn't sound like a horrible system. Sure you wont do a lot of games, but it sounds robust enough to do basically anything you need, especially for school. What a great friend!
For curiosity sake, how much does it weigh, what are the dimensions?

Wow you're very lucky. That's still a pretty modern computer. My friends make me pay them back when I borrow a dollar from them.
100mhz fsb.... LOL wonder if there's any way to oc the fsb and lower the multiplier.... shouldn't result in higher temps as long as the actual clock speed doesn't change too much... unlikely on a laptop, though.

actually raising the bus would make the laptop all around run hotter.. all of the components like ram and the chipset and stuff would be running faster. if you have a PLL that can handle it you should be able to change the fsb via software pretty easily with a program liek softfsb. i use it on my server (emachines mobo) to oc a celly. if you're concerned with battery life tho... overclocking seems like the last thing you'd be doing

Man finding full specs on this machine was hard but i finally found it after searching through google for like 30 minutes. Most sites are offering extra batteries or accessories and those who did list the specs were the obvious ones I could find in device manager.... The actuall model is a ze5607wm (I am not sure what the difference between this and a ze5600 is *under screen it says ze5600 but then there is a sticker that says ze5607wm and it fits all those specs (except upped ram to 740mb))
Here is the page with all the specs:

Great battery life it says when fully charged about 2:40 and 2:50...
This is especially great considering the athlon 64 lappies that last for an hour...

Well after spending a week with it it is pretty cleaned up. Uninstalled unused programs and clean out the registry. Some programs uninstallers didn't work so that made the task a little harder... Well it's all clean and i am not sure I will reformat or not... only time will tell i just don't want to have to deal with thos MS people... Activating windows has become such of a hassel recently.
i have been contemplating reformatting mine as well it should be done at least once a year especially on a laptop.
