Low marks in 3Dmark2001 :(

I have Athy 1.4 512 DDR RAM and a KyroII 64 meg vid card, and I only have 2200 benchmarks. What the **** is this? I thought the KyroII was a good card. Can someone explain me what the problem is?

There´s basically some bug in the 3D Mark 2001 which hinders the Kyro II from getting good scores, but it doesn´t matter..
Try Quake 3 timedemo and you´ll get much better scores

By the way, I get about 1850 with my setup below

You should look out for Direct X 8.1 beta and the latest drivers from Power VR which are designed for Direct X 8.
That adds some performance...

basically 3dmark ranks it low because there is no t&l engine kyroII is based on different technology.....with intel pushing all these chips out the kyro II is going to look pretty attractive in a year or so....with a 4ghz chip you dont need a t&l engine :)

Have you tried the latest PowerVR reference drivers 1.3 (Build 1.0.8.162)? Here's a link to the newest drivers...

3dMark2k and 2k1 are pretty much designed to give anybody w/ a GeForce card an inflated head, and everybody else a load of steaming bad news ;)

I wouldn't trust those benchies much.

In some cases you may be right but the bottem line is that the new 2001 is made for cards on the level of the ATI 8500 and GF3 level so for all the pople that have cards that are not of that caliber are more or less going to get crap scores. I was getting 3500+ using a GF2 400mx on 2000 and then I went to 2001 and got scores of 1500.

the kyro2 of course isnt better than the geforce2pro

you are getting low marks because your memory is limiting you a lot

i mean the pc100 stick i sold you at least

pull that out and put it on your other comp

then adjust 2-2-2 settings in your bios.......i mean memory!
