OK. I am looking for a Power Supply to replace my Antec True Power 430. I am looking at the Antec NEO 480w Seen Here (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=270022&affiliate=pricewatch)
Does anyone have any experience with this powersupply? In the January 2005 issue of Maximum PC it was rated as good as the PC Power & Cooling 510Deluxe. It was also rated way ahead of the OCZ Powerstream 520. I have heard that Max PC did not use the best review paramaters but I am wondering what you think.
Would the Neo PS be more stable than my TP 430? Or should I try to find a vendor with a Powerstream in stock? OR...... should I save my $$ and get a PC P&C when I can afford it?? As I said, Max PC rated the Neo and the PC P&C about the same.
If possible please provide some real, experienced data.
Thanks for the help.
Id personally recomend the OCZ 520w powerstream - best psu iv ever owned, and iv had a lot - rock solid rails, adjustable too - a64's are very picky about psu's - but the ocz is flawless :)
i baught a neopower480 and it sucks, cant even overclock 10% with it, baught a new psu a couple days later
i baught it to replace a truepower480 which didnt like me nemore, and i regret buying it

If you want the absolute best, go with the Turbo Cool Deluxe 510. Its rails are absolutely rock solid and it rates and delivers <=10MV AC Ripple.
Here's a review of eight power supplies including the Neopower and Powerstream 520. Like in the Maximum PC review, the Neopower gets "style points" for being modular, but the OCZ was a better performer.
The Neopower is rated for 3% voltage tolerance while the OCZ is 1%

the real question is the pcp&c 510 deluxe vs the ocz powerstream 600w ;)
I don't trust antec with psus anymore, their true480w has been very good to me but it's just so low on 12v current...
Just sent payment for a 600w powersteam though :)

I wouldn't recommend any Antec unit. In case you have not heard my thoughts concerning power supplys and the Athlon 64, please read the following:
http://www.ocforums.com/showpost.php?p=3339506&postcount=6
Anyhow, I have owned the OCZ 520W and Antec TP/TC 550W's and the OCZ gets my vote everytime.

Ive just ordered a OCZ powerstream 600w also. My antec 480w 12v is dying it seems. Its dropped to as low as 11.5v
I hope the OCZ performs a hell of a lot better :)
My 520 OCZ Powerstream just arrived 20 mins ago. :)
Quite heavy, definatly a good size i suppose.
One thing that seems a little strange is the ATX 20pin. I take it i just plug in the large one, as adding the smaller one makes it 24pin???
And i suppose the Blue coloured one's that say P4 are the 12?
Just panicked for a second, lol
Not gonna install it till i get my new case, gonna order that in a second.
Should have it all up and running end of week easy.

Great! I had a Modstream 520 on order but decided against it... Just changed it to a Powerstream 600w instead :p
Let us know how you get on with the PSU :)
Just noticed something.
The Power cable is seriously wierd. There is no one cable that iwll fit into UK power mains??? WTF??????? Am i missing something??
I have the PSU, a black power cable, i suppose for the US, got a wierd connector on it, and a bag, with 4 screws and different coloured straps by the looks of it???
Here is a pic of everything that came with my PSU:

Any of you OCZ 520Watters am i missing another cable?

that looks exactly like what i came in my package. looks like you'll need a plug adapter, unless you can find a cable that will do the psu on one side and your UK plug on the other. the adapter shouldnt be too hard to find, most electronics stores or any travel-accesory store. i got one for my medeusa headphones not long ago for under $5 (UK->NA)
where did you get it from? i wonder if they do a UK packed version or not...

I love my OCZ as well.....
As for your issues cant be as bad as mine were. On load my 430T would drop to 11.32-38 :-/

I think the OCZ600 is awesome. I've had it a few weeks now and must say this P4E OC'd can do nothing to even budge the rails off their mark. Very impressed and it was designed with future formats in mind which is some reassurance considering how quickly the standards are changing.

I should be getting a replacement from them.
They obviously messed up, as without a UK cable it's worthless lol.
as far as im aware ocz dont sell a variant of the powerstream that comes with a uk power plug - you have to buy your own - come on theyre only like £2!
Well i emialed the site i got it from yesterday, and they said it should come with one, and i think it should.
Like saying American cars, don't come with engines.

I removed one of my Antecs and installed an OCZ. I love it works fantastic. OCZ is my new second favorite PSU brand.
My powerstream 600 should arrive tommorow
I got it from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/
omg, don't say this....
I just installed my new NeoPower 480, from a TP430, I thought I got the best one out there?
well, I'll test it, but I have to get some new mem for a better OC. I hope to hell I'm not limited with the Neo.

Rip off, i try to stay away from overclockers! :p
I got mine from www.cpucity.co.uk
K got the ocz600 up and running! mbm5 is showing me that my 12v rail is 12.69  is that dangerous?

Seems a little high. You can adjust the 12v via the POTS on the back of the PSU. Just need a small phillips screwdriver.
jeff
Id trust MBM5 about as far as i can throw a OCZ PSU!:p

Forget MBM and measure with a DMM.
Did you adjust the pots until the lights turn green? Green means the rails are within +-5% Red means above, yellow means below.
Aye its cool the leds are green i havent adjusted anything. Everything seems fine ..... except for some reason my machine is no longer prime stable. I only changed the psu /hdds and soundcard... everything else is the same... @stock :(
Ok guys, i see yo adust the voltage by moving the tiny screws at the back of the PSU.
I wanna up my memory voltage to 3.4v, how far do i tuen the thing on the PSU??? how do i know when it's gonna give me 3.4v?????????? :eh?:

You will have to preform a Volt Mod on your Mobo to do this. Your PSU does not directly regulate VDIMM.

My mobo has a BIOS that goes to 4.0Vdimm. You sayingi still can't up my voltage, noooooooooo.

Sorry, did not know that. You just up your VDIMM in the Bios. It has nothing to do with the PSU rails, assuming they can handle the load your computer presents.
Heh phew, i was almost gonna cry then, lol.
SO your saying i just up the voltage in my BIOS, until it's unstable?
What iam saying is, if i have to feed it more voltage, how do you know how far you have gone. There seems to be no readout.

You might want to look in the Memory Forums. I am not sure how high you can safely go. I never run my VDIMM over 2.8. But I like to play it safe.

Nah mate, i dont think you understand what i mean, but i think iam off the mark anyways.
Here's what i just did.
I had the Vdimm in BIOS set to 3.20, but it was reading as around 3.06 in the BIOS. It got errors in memtest at 245, so i re-booted and upped the rail on the PSU a tiny bit, and it moved to 3.19 volts in BIOS as reading, so i re-booted and it seemed ok.
So the only way to see how far you have moved the voltage on the PSU is what your BIOS is reading????

After my previous bout with An****, I cannot possibly reccomend them at all, especailly for A64s. IMHO anything is better than Antec at the moment.
Antec = generic POS supply in my mind.
I feel your pain bro since I too came from the 430W TP. As I stated before, that is the first and LAST Antec PSU I plan on purchasing. OCZ is infinatly better, I can assure you of that.
