I have a 10gb fujistsu hard drive. The first operating system i installed was windows me. Then i installed linux wich took over win me and took up about 2gb. I reinstalled win me cuz i didn't like linux but it only said my harddrive was 2gb big. I've already used all my space up and i need the other 8gb. Pleaze how can i get them back?

You mean you've lost all of win me and have 2 gig of linux on an 8gig partition?

You will need to repartition. Log in to linux as root and type cfdisk. Delete all partitions and write the partition table. reboot the PC and boot off a DOS disk. Type fdisk and choose 'create partition' and then 'create primary partition'. Make one partition and make it bootable (say yes if fdisk asks you if you want to do this). Then try to reinstall Me.

fdisk can write partitions without even a disk check to see if anythings there (the no logical drives error). I fyou still need it, ill look it up for ya.

no, i reinstalled win me which got rid of linux but it only let win me use a 2gb partition instead of 10. Why won't it recognize my other 8 gb's?

No, it didn't get rid of your Linux. Linux is still on your hd, and thats what is taking up the 8 gigs. You have to remember that Linux does NOT use a FAT partition, it uses EXT2, and Windows Won't recognise it (9x and ME will only recognise FAT16/32). What you're going to have to do, is grab your Linux boot disk, stick it in and boot up. Go through the motions until you get to a program called DiskDrake (If you're using Mandrake, if you're not, use the equivalent for the Linux you have) delete all of the partitions, and make one big partition and format it as FAT32. Now reboot w/ your WinME bootdisk in the drive and install your ME. that'll take care of it.
