This is my first attempt at building a computer. I have read quite a bit of info on the process but they all seem to have left out explanations of wires coming from the power supply.
I have:
Abit TH7II mobo
P4 1.7ghz
enermax 350w ps.
There is a string of (4) 4 pin receptacles(pictured)

There is a string of (2) 4 pin receptacles and one smaller white plug(pictured)

The power connections to the mobo I understand from the mobo manual.
Any help would be great.
The wires with 4 pins they plug to CD-Rom DVD Hard Drives etc
And the other one smaller plugs to the floopy disk...
Yes, those are the connectors for drives and fans. There will also be some three pin fan connectors on the motherboard. Chances are, you'll have lots more power connector than devices. The extra, unused connectors will come in handy later as you upgrade or add drives.
Power conectors are pretty straight forward, you can't plug them in wrong because of the shape so just remember if a device has a port for one to be plugged in then it needs one plugging in.
TH7II?? isnt this for the 478 pin p4's. will a 1.7 p4 even work??

yea i just saw that on pricewatch. $197 for a p4 1.7 478 pin. i bet in a month the 2 ghz prices will be cut in half as well.
These 4-pin connectors are called MOLEX.
The smaller floppy one I don't know how it's called.

I got the 1.7 478 from googlegear http://www.googlegear.com/ggweb/jsp/ProductList.jsp?ThirdCategoryCode=010408
for $198
I know it's 478 because it's in my board already. I only had to hit it a twice with a hammer to get it in :p
Thanks again guys

Thanks again guys Sounds like you didn't hit it hard enough the first time. Hammer blows are terrible things to waste.:D
