My brother just put together a computer for my sister. the original stick of ram he got for it was bad, so we just put in a temporary sick of 128MB so that we could at least install windows and use it. We just got the RMA'd ram back today and installed it. The computer was working fine before we put the ram in, but after, windows showed odd pixillization and would crash every time you tried to do anything. Sometimes it wouldn't even get into windows, it would just automatically reboot. when it did work, it said that windows recovered from a serious error. When I sent the error report, it said that it was a driver issue, but we have that rueled out. We tested the Ram using memtest and it was fine. I even put the ram in my computer and it worked fine and put my ram in her computer where it had the same problem. I tried booting knoppix, which boots up, but after kde loads, it just shuts down right away. We tried reinstalling windows. It got as far as installing the components (after the 1st reboot) and I got a Blue screen of death. I figure it must be a hardware problem, but I'm not sure what it would be. The processor was fine. I ran folding@home on it without problems before and it never got >50C. The only other thing I would think it could be is the motherboard.... not sure though, any help is aprieciated.
