Has anyone even blown their video card fan headers by running a higher rated fan off them?

Not me. But If you have a high output fan then it should be really hooked up to the PSU. Is the burnt out header on your vid card causing any headaches?

I think you can with a smaller fan, but the video card's already at its max at pulling power from the motherboard. With a larger fan you'd be stealing some of the power from the GPU. I would do as the prior post suggests and run it from the motherboard and not take the chance.

Yeah i burent the header :)

its RIGHT nest to a mosfet and a capacitor but no problems so far...on top ot that my card is warped out of place too fro teh zip ties that wrap teh card to hold my heatsink...but still all working :)
