i have a 1.4 ghz t-bird 266bus 128mb ram and my idle temps are around 45 C and w/ load about 51-52 C my fan is a globalwin wbk68 w/ artic silver applied
i am ordering more cooling for case and cpu, but until it arrives are these temps too hot? and what heatsink and hsf should i buy to get them lower?
thanks

I have the same cpu and my temps are at 50C idle (with the sorriest HSF by coolermaster's *JUNK*) from the advices i've got from our forum ppls must of them recommend the Thermalright SK6 with a delta fan (if you dont mind the noise) or a sunon fan ( good airflow for the noise level) Its a really good heatsink so you should give it a try!
The solution to my case I've decided to go for water cool :)
Seems much better and like dimmripper said if you ever upgrade you'll just need a better waterblock ;)

Also if you can and are able to try putting two case fans one blowing air IN the case and One on the back sucking the air out that way you have a good air sirculation around the case and try to keep the hot air out :)

Hope i helped you on any way

Yup that's a bit on the high side. When you put fans on your case to get much needed airflow just remember that you have to exhaust as efficiently whatever you pump in. Look at the volume & velocity of the airflow that you pump thru your case. When you accomplish that the closer you will get to ambient temps. If your room is hot then your case will be hot. No matter how many case fans you have if your room is 45°C then you will not get your CPU lower than that with air cooling even if you have the most efficient &/or expensive HSF.

You do have a point by saying that room temps will make your case temps raise, but in my case i can say that when my system temps go up to 42-45C (with my case fans off) i turn some of my case fans on and the system temps drop to 24-28C and even my cpu temp normally drops from 3-5C so maybe the fans will help :)

Fans help big time. THAT IS NOT THE POINT. Cooling down to ambient is. You get a big diff in temps with your case fans off compared to when you switch them on. Did you take note of ambient temps? Surely when you had the fans off your temps were far from ambient & with the fans on you got near to ambient. Lets not confuse this with anything else;)

Nice case!!! I was thinking of painting my case but I can't find paint that will look like anodized deep red. Have been looking at PPG for my paint.

Your temps are a little high, but nothing to worry about. Perhaps you shouldn´t up voltage untill you get some Air into your Case
