Hi. My Hitachi Deskstar is using the SATA 150 TXT2PLUS BIOS. It's the latest version from their website, but as of late, after installing SP2 the progress meter that comes up on the BIOS version, it's the "......." well, one tends to be a lot slower than before. It used to progress to, about say one small block about this big
............................. and then show my hard drive.

Now it goes all the way to the end, then finally discovers it. Could this be all SP2's doing? I do use Norton Internet Security 2005, but I thought that doesn't load up until I log on to Windows.

Any help would be appreciated, regards.

I don't run any sata drives but i doubt sp2 has any affect on the bios of the drive. I'm assuming you're talking about the bios screen when you boot the computer. If thats it sp2 doesn't come into play untill the bios has let go of controll. So basically it is probabally a bios issue. You can test by booting from a knoppix cd.
