ok heres i got . i own a few computers.. usely 2 that dont move .

1 computer is my moms/dads. and the other is mine. my moms is running off a hardwired to the router. linksys wireless G. my computer is useing the wireless..and a nice speed.. (otho i never did find out how to xfer files over the router...)

now uknow what i got..heres what i want to do. my dad..just started playing them really crapy 2d games (and with their computer..thats about all u can play) hes kinda..got playing them alot more then he should.. (they are the games that u download..and have an hour..or the next time u go to play the game..it dont work and u need to buy it. blocking the intneter only stops him from downloading the games..but) the only thign i can do is stop the internet ..i am still waiting to see if this worked. ..i just blocked off the net to his ip tho the routers admin panel.

now what i am looking for is a program were i can watch..and do stuff on their computer from mine. mostly i want to have a taskmanager on the other computer i can veiw from mine ..and shut down something if i want it shut down. so if my dads playing games.. and my mom wants to talk to him.. i can shut down his game so he goes and talks with my mom ..and other stuff.

is there a program like this? and one that does not have a pop up everytime i go to do something like stop a program?

both computers are running windows xp pro sp1 if u need any more info ..just ask

I use Tight VNC. (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/tightvnc.html) Linux even has a version of the same thing that can be used with this. :attn:

i personally use pcanywhere, but i got it for nearly free a few years back through the school.

VNC thing is free, and ive heard of "goto my pc" as well, all should let you see whats going on.

you run the server on his computer and then use the viewer or a web browser on yours. But it will not do exactly what you want. He will be able to see what you do while you do it.

Why don't you talk to him. I know it might seem old fasioned but it truly would be the best way to find out why he would rather play a game than spend time with your mom. The best way to deal with that kind of situation is to open up the lines of communication. Maybe suggest couples counceling for them. But short of that leave him alone computer wise because it seems to me like he is using it as a way relax and not think about whatever is going on. Good luck.

By the way you could always put netnanny on his copmputer;)

For viewing the processes, supposedly the "tasklist.exe" command will let you view what is running on a remote computer (provided you have a copy of XP Pro on both). I didn't manage to get it to work for me, but you might have better luck :D Also, the command "taskkill.exe" (I think) on XP Pro should let you remotely kill a process as well.

Though having a talk with him IS probably the best solution ;)
