View Full Version : Caint install video card in DELL
Hello every one I need help I am trying to install a new video card on a Dell GX270, the new card we got is a ATI 9600SE but what ever I do it will not run the card. I even tried a old tnt 2 card help.
In the bios I tried to disable the onboard video but I caint yiu can just set it to auto.

did you try it on auto, or you cant set it to auto?
When the card is installed does the PC just use the onboard graphics or does it fail to POST at all? Are there any options in the BIOS to use AGP cards first?
It posts I think just no video its not just that PC I tried it in 3 other ones and the same thing err, I have another issue you caint remove the battry with out bracking it.

It seems if it does not post in other pc's, it could be DOA. I am guessing this is not your pc, who's is it? Is a 9600se really much better than onboard graphics?

YES actually its MUCH better... anyway... i think its the fact you have a dell... those proprietary mobos are a nogo...

Most Dells don't even have an AGP Slot.....
The best upgrade for a Dell is a new mainboard (anything other than the Dell or Gateway PC illusions), you are fighting a loosing battle.

actually, my friends dell has an AGP slot (so he says, his brother knows computers)

Problem is that you can't install the dell windows xp, let alone activate it when winbloze detects the change. Also it probably won't fit as dell isn't atx compliant. A new power supply would be necessary.
