Oooooh something to use when I get home. Having issues with my .22 temps not always updating properly this should fix my issue :)
Hmmm, might have a look then.
Ive never realled liked ATI Tool. I find the interface anoying, the scan thing never ever stops, and it doesn't always load on start-up when i tell it to.
Whats the other program that works for nvidia and ATI cards? might give that a go as well, as me x800 clocks pretty well, even though it gets to 85c, lol.
It's still ATITool, though with that huge square saying "ATITool" I can't seem to find my profiles  Must do more digging I guess...

Installed it last night, works great. Temps on the card are updating properly again, and it has a cool little temp graph and u can record the temps.
Guess I can try for a higher OC when I get time. Since now im not having any issues with my card giving me wierd artifacts after my latest flash.

Oh BTW does the auto detect for 3D Applications work well?? I was thinking about having my card run default 450/475 speed on loadup/not doing much of anything on the computer. Just don't want to keep switching speed settings all the time, rather enjoy it at 1 speed or let it do it automagically.

use radlinker. you can set what programs you want to run at what speeds and once the program closes the card goes back to default speeds
i use ati tool to scan for good speeds and then i set it in radlinker
best 1-2 combo EVER

Hmmm, might have to try that. Does Radlinker have a temperature icon that sits in the tool bar? I really like that feature for watchin my temps on my card, basically the main reason why I like ATItool so much is because it does that.
it doesn't have the temp thing but you can still use ati tool to monitor temps
just use radlinker to set the speeds in different programs.

ATI tool also lets you set different clock profiles, that's what 2d and 3d profiles do. i have it at stock for the 2d clock, and my max OC for the 3d profile.
i love ATI tool, it works very well for me.

I'm with Aphex_Tom on this one: I use ATITool pretty religiously for thermal monitoring and 3D/2D clock profiles. Never had any issues with it :)

I have the latest version of ATITool and I was looking at it for anything about monitoring temps and I couldn't find anything. Where is the temp graph that you are talking about? I have a RADEON 8500 128mb card, not sure if that has anything to do with me not seeing that option or something. Thanks!

I thought I just hadn't updated in a long time. I just downloaded it a day or so ago, thinking it was out for a while (I haven't really touched ATItool for a month or so, but I was updating drivers and stuff all over my system, so I checked that.)
I noticed it has HD Acoustic control, but neither of my drives support that. It also messed up my profile exception list. It added a square to the entries and caused them to not be detected. Easy fix, just remove them and put the program name in again. Other than that, it seems like the same old ATItool that changes clocks for me automatically, without causing any issues. I'm glad it was updated, though, I was begining to think it was abandoned.

I like the .22 interface better then it. I cant really notice a difference, the little graph annoys the goat outa me though. Do any of you know how to turn that off? I am really disapointed about the no 2d/3d profile. My opinion is boo for .23

2D/3D Profile option works great. Just tried her last night to give it a whirl. Had 0 problems. Besides that now I'm sporting a higher OC :) I'll try some more tonight with an even higher one. 530/570 and going up stock cooling. Sitting around 55-56C core.

Hello folks, I just had one quick question regarding on ATITool, so let me jump in and ask a question.
On the official ATITool website, it describes its features as follows:
Main Features
* No limits overclocking.
* Finding maximum core and memory overclock by rendering into a Direct3D window and scanning the output for visual artifacts.
* Temperature monitoring and fan speed control (on supported cards)
* Removal of Catalyst overclocking lock for 9000/9200/9550/9600 series.
* Artifact scanning mode for non-ATI cards - use together with a 3rd party overclocking utility.
* Loading a predefined clock profile on Application/Windows startup.
* Hotkeys that can be used any time to load clocks from a profile.
* 3D application detection (Direct3D 8, Direct3D 9, OpenGL) to overclock your video card only when required.
* Gamma control
Does 9800 Pro have a fan speed control support??? I can't seem to find one in the program, and it's pretty loud....
just override fan controls to change fan speed.just watch load temps afterwards.

You mean by using an external fan speed controller??? If so, there are no softwares to change fan speed for 9800??? Or, you mean by overriding ATITool??? (And how do I do that if that's the case?)
Thanks for the help.

It's still there, just under the 'settings' area pulldown menu under '3d detection'
in atitool go to settings, than find fan control among the various settings to change.than click on override fan controls to change whatever you want than apply and go back.simple as that.

I don't see that Fan Control option.... :(
sigh...in settings there is the word overclocking.click on the arrow next to it.a list should appear and somewhere in the middle should be fan control.

Yeah, it's probably not there because 9800 does not support it? I know I've seen it on my XT Plat.
i guess 9600,s and X800,s support it but 9800,s dont.most likely it has a onboard thermal diode but not a fan controller.

I have that fan override stuff. But will it interphere with your ati silencer fan switch on high/low?
as long as it is set to high it should be ok to increase fan speed.
I take it back, i actually thing this new version is pretty good. Thumbs up. :)
Where's the "Load on Startup" Option...using .22 still here.
Settings> startup.
Indeed it is there :p
I'll still stick with .22

Does anyone know anything about the radeon clock lock option? a friend of mine only has a radeon 9000 and he would like to be able
to take that clock lock off so he can do a bit of overclocking without it reseting all the time on him...

just curious but does anybody know how to disable Temporal Anti-Aliasing?

well I after messing around with this program I got some numbers
x700 Pro 256MB PCI-E Original spec's Core/Memory (424/432)
new specs after OC'n it Core/Memory (475/513)
is this any good? Also I was monitoring my temps and on the bottom of the ATi Tool said 63/47 during the scanning for artifacts for 15 minutes. Right now while I'm idling it's 40/40. Are these temps acceptable?

In case you haven't found out how already here's where you can find the TAA option in the Catalyst drivers. Open the display properties, go to the settings tab, and click Advanced. Go to the 3D tab and check "use custom settings". Click the Custom button, and uncheck "Applicatio Preference" for the Anti-Aliasing. Now, just make sure that whatever it's set at you don't have the TAA checkbox on.

well i dont think those temps are too high pcmonkey (still keep ane eye open)
but i dont think 15 minutes insures stability either...
try running the newest 3dmark for a few loops and keep an eye open for artifacts...

just ran one of those free versions of 3Dmark05 and it ran with no artifacts I got 3333 score, I know it's not the greatest but oh well I haven't OC'd my PC at all yet to help out with the score. Temps didn't go over 55 degrees
My PE idles at 51C, at 560/600, over 80C load.
