SB Live + Win2k stuttering

I know a lot of people have had this problem, when playing back audio or video in Win2k with a SB Live they get frequent stutters, or short lockups, and the audio skips. What is the best fix for this? Its driving my friend insane. Thanks for the help.

The new creative drivers did nothing to help, SP1 didn't change anything either, going to try VIA's next...
