The OEM version of XP I have doesn't require any sort of activation, no time bombs or anything alike. Nothing.

do you have a dell comp that came with XP ? Cuz somebody said they put every activation thing in the BIOS of the comp, so you can change anything except the motherboard.

No, I have the OEM cd, and nothing even remotely close to being a DELL, or a prebuilt computer altogether. Just trust me, there are final versions with no activation ;)

I have a release to market build. It is a Volume Licence version and it does NOT require activation...

I have not tried changing my hardware yet, but I believe it will NEVER require activation... :)

Here is an articule from Ed on MS new product activation. I don't have any problem with it and can't see why anyone would.

I have had XP Final installed for about 3 weeks now and it has run flawlessly on my PIII 733. I havent rebooted 1 time since the install, its super stable. I have also been working on figuring the darn thing out to try to make it as similar as the win 2k I was running. Doing things such as adding the volume icon into the taskbar and such. Oh yea I didnt need to activate my copy either!!

I have a problem because Microsoft still have not stated how long they will hand out activation codes, If you need one after two years will Microsoft still provide you with a activation code for a OS that they no longer support... I think not

What do you mean? Do you already have the software?
