View Full Version : p4c800 with ide-raid and sata?
Iīm having a problem with my asus p4c800 deluxe.
I have two Seagate Barracuda 80 GB in ide-raid.
Now i bought me a new Seagate harddisk mit 200GB and sata.
But if i connect my sata harddisk with my system it is unable to boot "Select proper boot device". I can run my raid harddisks or my sata drive but not both.
The sata drive is in the bios and i tried to chance the required settings but nothing happened. I hope you can help me...
sounds like when the new drive is installed it is trying to boot off that one. After you install it go into the BIOS and change your boot drive back to the RAID array.
Thats the point.
When i look in the BIOS there is only the sata harddrive avaible.
The Raid-Drives are not listed...
So its unable to change the mountdrive.
I also dont know how you can be boot from a device which is not in the BIOS.
I donīt know....

It's hard to see without looking at your bios screen personally. This problem can be overcome though. It is trying to boot from the sata drive first. So you should make sure that sata isn't listed anywhere in your boot device order. Is the PATA raid an add on card or integrated into mobo ?
PATA Raid is on the mobo...
In the Bios the only boot option is to switch between the floppy and the sata drive...
It make no difference if i choose the floppy or the sata drive first.
There are only these two.
I also set the IDE Configuration to Enhanced Mode and took the option S-ATA + P-ATA. But I also tried different options. I will not work...
I have a mobo almost exactly similar to taht one. In the BIOS there is a setting for your Boot Device Priority, which is the order of your boot drives (ie.. Floppy, Optical, Hard Drive). Then there is also a place in the bios to choose the drive for each of these categories. Under optical drive you can choose which optical drive you want to boot off of, and under Hard drive you can choose the drive you want to boot off of.
Check the Boot Configureation for this setting or look around it the bios with both the SATA and the RAID array installed.
