Xp Recovery??

Hello,
I know ive used this option before. Its not the first asr screen but if you goto boot then f8 then choose which windows partition there should be something in there that allows you to push "r" and it will do a recovery of files, but I cant seem to find it anyone know what im missing? Thank you.

put in the install disc, boot from it and it will be in there some where

Well after a bit of research this is what I found out. If the boot.ini is in bad shape then windows xp will not offer a repair option. Here is a link Maybe this could be a sticky for future reference if it is not already known.
